How much does it cost to rent a car in Bali?
The table above is generated from the cars we currently have available, not from a rate card, so it reflects what you would actually pay today. Prices are quoted per day in Indonesian rupiah.
Three things drive the price: the size of the car, how long you keep it, and the time of year. A compact hatchback for a couple costs a fraction of a seven-seat MPV, weekly and monthly rentals carry a discount, and rates firm up over Christmas, New Year and the July–August peak.
Cheap car rental in Bali — what “cheap” actually means here
The cheapest car rental in Bali on our fleet right now is a hatchback at Rp 200.000 per day. That is the whole price: comprehensive insurance, unlimited kilometres, free delivery and 24/7 assistance are already in it.
Budget car rental in Bali usually goes wrong in one of two ways — a headline rate that excludes insurance until you are standing at handover, or an airport surcharge bolted on afterwards. We do neither, which is why the number in the table is the number you pay.
Three ways to bring the cost down honestly: take the smallest car your group genuinely fits into, rent by the week or month rather than day by day, and avoid the Christmas, New Year and July–August peaks if your dates are flexible.
What the price includes
- Comprehensive insurance — not a separate daily add-on at handover
- Unlimited kilometres — drive to Amed or Munduk without a mileage charge
- Free delivery and collection — hotel, villa or Ngurah Rai Airport, with no airport surcharge
- 24/7 roadside assistance in English and Indonesian
- A second driver at no extra cost
What is not included
Fuel is not included — you take the car with a full tank and return it full. Parking (typically Rp 2.000–5.000 at attractions), toll road charges on the Bali Mandara toll, and any traffic fines are yours. Child seats are available on request.
We do not add a booking fee, a credit card fee, or a fuel service charge. If a number is not on this page, it is not on your bill.
Do prices differ between Ubud, Canggu and Seminyak?
No. People search for "car rental Ubud price" expecting Ubud to cost more than the coast, but the daily rate is identical wherever you take delivery — Ubud, Canggu, Seminyak, Sanur, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua or the airport. Delivery is free to all of them.
What does change with location is which car makes sense. Ubud's winding, steep approach roads reward a bit of ground clearance, while Seminyak and Canggu are far easier in something small you can park. Each area page sets out the roads, traffic and parking so you can pick accordingly.
